As Tanzania Celebrates its 50 Years of UHURU, Mustafa Hassanali’s, Tanzania’s pan African designer will unveil his “UHURU” collection which is inspired by the flapping of Tanzanian flag as it was hoisted on Mt Kilimanjaro on 9 December 1961 at the AFI Africa Fashion Week in Johannesburg in South Africa.

“The collection embodies the flora and fauna of Tanzania, The Warm hospitality of its people, the rich natural resources of the nation but more importantly so built on the principles of the founding father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere” stated Mustafa Hassanali

Thus the Collection is aptly named UHURU, Swahili word for freedom. This collection just does not Celebrate Tanzania’s 50 years of freedom from Colonial rule, but also that Freedom to express one creativity, culture, and Spirit.

Being a One Nation, The collection shall see the fusion of Harmony amidst the chaos of different Hues and Textures to bring about a Collection that is distinctively Mustafa Hassanali yet Summing up Tanzania

Yet another FIRST from Mustafa Hassanali, He will be the first designer to engage in celebration of 50 years of Tanzanian Independence outside Tanzania by launching his collection in South Africa.

“The Showcase of UHURU collection will be my Second Showcase at AFI Africa Fashion Week and eighth in the Republic of South Africa, thus strengthening the bilateral relation between Tanzania and South Africa.” Concluded Hassanali

AFI Africa Fashion week is owned by African Fashion Internationals Dr Precious Moloi, will take place at Sandton Convention Centre from 20-22 October. Mustafa Hassanali is the only designer from Tanzania to be invited at this prestigious week and will showcase on 22 October at 1600HRS.
